Melissa McKinney
Melissa McKinney is a singer/songwriter, musician, educator, and event curator. A powerful vocalist, Melissa believes in the power of using her voice for good and for helping youth do the same. She works for LEAF Global Arts, is the co-founder of WTF (Women to the Front) music festival, a board member of AVLFest, the artist curator for Black Mountain Blues festival, and a small business owner.
Impact from Helene: I lost a majority of my work for the month of October and feel unsure of what will happen in November/December. I also had to make an unexpected move because of a sinkhole on the property where I lived. I incurred unexpected moving costs as well as the cost of fully furnishing a home, as the place I lived was fully furnished.
The ask: My ask would be for paid work. Shows, house concerts, songwriting sessions, demo work. I also encourage people to purchase downloads of my music from my website and to keep loving their neighbor, long after we heal from the hurricane.
