Born and raised in Oklahoma, I have traveled extensively since my teenage years, exposing me to a variety of arts and cultures. I studied both the creative and martial arts from my late father, Joseph L Collins, an accomplished artist in multiple mediums-clay, wood/glass etchings, paint, ink and pencil.
He was also a Master in martial arts, the foremost being in Tai Chi. I migrated to Asheville in 2017 being drawn by its natural beauty and acceptance of unique individuals such as myself. I originally practiced massage therapy once here, but have since retired from that field and have come back full circle to art.
Impact from Helene: I had an artist space in Foundation Studios, River Arts District, that was destroyed in the flooding. I was able to salvage several pieces. I also have my work in Noire Collective AVL, a Black Asheville artist space in downtown Asheville in the historic Block district. Tourism was affected deeply due to Hurricane Helene as Asheville was shut down for over a month.
The ask: Any supplies pertaining to creating stained glass art-glass, solder, zinc came, bevels, etc.
